Carrick-on-Shannon Rowing Club has been an important feature of the town over the past 175 years. One of the oldest clubs in the country we provide access to the age old sport of rowing for inhabitants of Carrick on Shannon and surrounding areas. We take on members on an ongoing basis from 13 years of age to introduce them to the pleasures of rowing.
We host annual regatta festival at the August Bank Holiday weekend where we welcome clubs from all over the island of ireland and more recently the Head of the Shannon in February annually. Winter Training in the evenings is facilitated in our gym which is included in membership. Carrick on Shannon Rowing club competes regularly around the country at regatta's and Heads of the Rivers and there is also a strong leisure rowing group in the club.
Carrick Rowing Club is the oldest rowing club in Ireland and the second oldest in Europe and is celebrating its 175th year in 2011. Carrick Rowing Club has rowers of all ages and experiences from beginners to master's crews and always welcomes new members.
